Mike King, Jr. My first memories of racing are helping my dad work on his car and watching him race at WIR when I was 8 years old. I knew I had always wanted to drive a racecar. When I was a teenager I helped Pit with my dad, and learned the basics of driving, and how to handle the car. I started to race on my own when I was 21 years old. I won my first feature win at WIR in July of 1998.

I continued to race At WIR in the Street Stock division, and also began to venture down to Oshkosh, to Sunny View Speed Zone. Where I won a few Heat races. Dirt Racing at Sunny View turned out to be the most fun I had ever had while racing, I never went back to Asphalt racing again, except to participate in the WIR Eve of Destruction.

In 2001 I raced a full season at Calumet County Speedway. I finished 6th overall in Street Stock points, and was 6 points away from winning the Rookie of the Year Honors.

My wife Brandi and I were married April 6, 2002. I took the year off to spend time with my wife and build a life together. Though I was enjoying being a husband and all that went with that, I missed racing.

I went back to work building another Street Stock car. I raced a full season in Sturgeon Bay at Thunderhill Raceway, where I took in 7 heat wins, and finished 6th in points again, and missed out on Rookie of the year by 11 points. It was exhilarating being back behind the wheel and having a great season.

On January 4, 2005 my wife and I welcomed our own little Racer, Conner Michael. He is the highlight of my life and he has stars in his eyes for racing. I can't wait until he is old enough to get under the car, and let me teach him all I can about what it means to finish behind the wheel of a car, in front of all others.

I topped off 2005 winning the CCRA Street Stock Track Champion. I had 5 Feature wins, 4 heat wins and 1 Dash for Cash win. In 2006 I successfully defended the 2005 championship by taking the title by 36 points. We ended the 2006 season with 8 heat wins and 3 feature wins and 1 dash win. I have many people to thank for all of the success. All the guys who work so hard on my car on and off the track. My Sponsors who helped make every year possible with all their support. My family and fans that come to cheer me on, every week. My wife and son who understand how much it means to me, to race, and allow me to do something I truly love.

After back-to-back championships in the street stock division I have decided to move up to the IMCA Stock Car class. In 2007 after a sometimes difficult season, I finished as Rookie of the Year at Thunderhill Raceway, in Sturgeon Bay, WI. We are looking forward to an exciting 2008 Season. My wife and I are expecting our second child in May, and having had a season to work out the kinks of a new car and division, we hope to run consistently and competitively every week. We also hope you will join us.

Patrick King - Biography

  • Accomplishments
  • 5 years racing experience (3 years in Go-Karts)
  • 1 feature win, 5 heat wins, 1 semi-feature win
  • 2006 CCRA Rookie of the year (4th in points)
  • 2007 3rd place in points at Thunderhill

Patrick King I have been involved in racing my whole life. I remember watching my Dad race on Thursday nights at WIR.

When I was 11 years old I started racing on my own, I was in the box stock division at GSR kartway in Clintonville, WI. I moved into the controlled stock division for my next and last 2 years of Go-Kart racing. During my last season of Go-Karting I was also helping my brother in the pits at Thunderhill Race Track. Although I did not race at all when I was 14, I learned a lot about racing by helping my brother in the pits at CCRA.

That December my dad bought me a 4 cylinder. I raced my rookie season at CCRA where I won 3 heat races and with consistant finishes in the features I finished 4th in overall points and won rookie of the year honors. The following summer I moved up to Thunderhill Race Track in Sturgeon Bay. That summer I won 2 heat races and won my first career feature and the following week I backed up my feature win with an amazing roll over. I bought another car and continued to race and was able to finish 3rd in overall points.

Also, in 2007 I worked as a pitman for Cory Kemkes Racing. We raced at WIR and finished in 6th place in points a nd Rookie of the year.

With the season over I sold my 4 cylinder and bought an IMCA Northern Sport Mod. It's a big step early in my racing career but I'm excited for the challenge. This summer I will be racing a full season at Luxemburg Speedway. Even with being a rookie in this highly talented class I'm hoping to be competitive, but most of all have fun and learn a lot about the new car and the division.

I will be taking the 2009 season off because I will be attending NTI (NASCAR Technical Institute) in North Carolina. I'm hoping to be back in my Sport Mod for the 2010 season and have some more fun. However, that's not going to stop me from having all the fun possible this summer, and learning as much as I can.
